In Loving Memory of Andrew “Andy” Bernard
Bernard Andrew (Andy) Gerald of Moncton passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on July 10, 2018 at the age of 90. Born in Dorchester, NB, July 6, 1928.
Andy is predeceased by his wife Jean Bernard October 8, 2016 and daughter Linda (James) Walford, Survived by his brother Alvin Bernard; son, Larry; aunt, Marie Bernard; grandchildren; Katie, Johnny, Meagan; sister in laws Barbara Brodeur, Joyce (Al) Strayhorn his many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great grandson, great great nephew, and friends.
Andy was a loving husband who took great delight in spending time with his beloved Jean whether it was working together in their successful business, Bernard Lock & Key, playing golf or listening to his favorite jazz music. A kind and gentle spirit, Andy had a great love for animals especially his faithful dog Kerry.
A life without passion is a life not lived. Andy was fortunate to have many passions, the greatest of all being music. Andy was very proud to play trumpet for the Sackville and Moncton Codiac Bands and he also enjoyed playing many other musical instruments. Andy was also passionate about old movies and sports, especially his two favourite teams the Toronto Maple Leaf and the Toronto Blue Jays. Later in life Andy developed a love for sleight of hand magic and shared it with neighbours and family members. He enjoyed the challenge of playing Pool with his friends at The Moncton Residence. Andy was a trusted, responsible and caring man. A man of great character who was well liked and respected by all who met him. He will be greatly missed.
He will be resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home with Funeral service on Friday, July 13, 2018 at 12:00pm with visitation from 11:00am until service time.
Interment will take place in Fair Haven Cemetery. Donations in Andy’s memory may be made to SPCA Moncton or a charity of the donor’s choice.
