Emma Gertrude Robar
Robar, Emma Gertrude – age 80 of Enfield, passed away peacefully at home on 5 July, 2018. She was born in Spanish Ship Bay, to the late Charles and Sarah (Pye) Nauffts. She was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Graham Robar; siblings, Gladys Turner, Mary Johnson, Annie Bastead and Ellis Nauffts. She was also predeceased by her companion of 16 years, Doug Shanks and his children, Curtis and Rosemary Shanks.
Emma is survived by her siblings, Leslie Nauffts, Ruth (Karl) Bourinot and Ernie (Karen) Nauffts; her children, Cindy (Ken McMillan) Dawson, Lynn (Neal Moase) Robar, Kelvin, Crystal Lloy and Larry; grandchildren, Sara Dawson, Rachel Dawson, Christopher Russell, Mary Sturge, Daniel Sawyer, Sara-lynn Hebert, Sasha Hebert, Shelby-Pearl Hebert, Cassandra Lloy, Lee Anne Leger and Taylor Robar; her precious and only great grandson, Colton Leger along with extended family John (Marion) Judi (Gordon) Ash, Brenda (Colin) Chisholm, Christine (Greg) Hatcher, Helen (Geroge) Foote, Patty Shanks, Edward, Douglas and Mildred (Kirk) Penney.
Emma was a Brownie Leader, member of the United Church Women’s Group, a Sunday School Teacher and a lifelong member of The Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) (Centennial, Somme and Montgomery) where she received Legion Honors for her devoted service. Emma and her companion, Doug worked diligently on the fund raising efforts to support the Juno Beach Center in France and attended the opening ceremony.
She was a wonderful wife, companion, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, sharing her love of life with all she came in contact with. Whether it was decorating, politics, sports, history, cooking, music or life advice, she was well versed in it all.
Cremation is under the care of Atlantic Funeral Homes in Dartmouth, NS. A Celebration of Life will be held at The Royal Canadian Legion, 133 Montgomery Branch, Enfield, on Saturday, 14 July, 2018 from 2-4 pm with a reception to follow. Special thanks to Dr. Smith and the Palliative Care Team who tended to Emma. Memorial donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
