SIMPSON, Lulu Grace “Lou” (nee. Bowman)
After a brief period of failing health, Lou died peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Eastholme, Powassan. She was in her 87th year. Lou was predeceased by her husband Robert “Bob” Manford Simpson (1930-1995), her son Rick Simpson (1950-1987) and her parents Grace (Barber) and Albert Bowman. She is survived by her loving family: children Jim (Mona Brooks) of North Bay and Tammy (Bruce Forget) of Corbeil, daughter-in-law Pat Froud (Jeff) of Callander; grandchildren Colleen (Leigh Strutt), Erika (John Morden), Rob (Lucie), Jill (Trevor Cooper), Gracie (Andy Turcotte); great-grandchildren Gwen & Tristan Cooper, Ali and Eva Simpson; and siblings Elaine Moore (the late Keith) of BC and Albert “Abby” (Noreen) Bowman of Nipissing.
Bob and Lou’s inspirational marriage, business partnership, and love for each other and their family contributed to their successful operation of an Ontario Lottery Distributorship and Silver Maple Stables and Saddle Shop which later became Bob Simpson Quarter Horses. Together they traveled extensively throughout Canada and the U.S. meeting amazing people and showing the finest quarter horses. In all of this, Lou’s beauty, grace, elegance and business tenacity never wavered, nor did Bobbie’s love and admiration for her. Now they ride together – on white horses.
Lou’s family will receive visitors at the Paul Funeral Home, Powassan on Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. The memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
