Obituary for
Victoria Selby-Readman (Selby-Readman)
Dearest, beloved, Victoria; our beautiful daughter, loved by so many, many people, passed away suddenly in the early hours of June 10, 2018, at the age of 28.
Words could never express the profound shock and despair at the loss of our precious daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend.
Victoria was born on September 11th, 1989, to Genevieve Selby and Gary Readman at Queensway General Hospital in Etobicoke near the GTA. Angels danced the day you were born, Victoria. Her early years growing up were spent in Mississauga until the age of 7 when her family moved to a rural property in the town of Caledon, just north of Toronto.
Victoria attended high school at the Regional Arts School, Mayfield Secondary School where she had many friends and acquaintances. She went on to attend the University of Toronto in 2010. Toronto has always been to Victoria, her first home, so moving downtown to the heart of Toronto was a dream come true for her.
Writing has always been Victoria’s special talent and great passion, something that was apparent from a very early age. She was an independent spirit in the truest sense, hoping to make a place for herself in this world by her own efforts and creativity through writing.
Victoria’s experiences have been varied and at times quite challenging for her but as time progressed she has truly become a person of great intelligence and sensitivity especially in the days and months preceding her passing.
Victoria hails from a large family both here in Canada and overseas in the United Kingdom. She will be missed by so many, many people:
Her mother Genevieve Selby and stepfather Barry Brillinger of Caledon; her father Gary Readman and partner Suzette Corrie of Toronto; her Grandparents, Kenneth George Selby and Anne Bernadette Selby both of whom are deceased, Grandmother Elizabeth Readman of Orillia, her Uncle David and Auntie Gwen Jewitt, cousins Andrew, Daniel and Poppy with children Samuel, Hazel and Rowan all of Northumberland, United Kingdom; Uncle David and Auntie Cathy (Hallet) Selby, cousins Matthew and Rachel of Newfoundland; Auntie Christine Selby and cousin Katy of Etobicoke; Auntie Virginia (Selby) and Uncle David Barrett of Mississauga; Uncle Dean Brillinger and Shelley Harquail of New Brunswick; Uncle Brian and Aunt Lisa (Wilson) Brillinger, cousin Jenna of Penetanguishene; Uncle Allan Exton, cousins Adam and Bradly of Barrie; Aunt Susan Exton-Stranks and Uncle Peter Stranks, cousins Sunny and Sadie of Orillia; Aunt Allison Exton, cousins Emma Mae and Billy McCleod of Hillsdale.
A very special mention should be made of lifelong friend, (BFF) Alexandra Palermo of Toronto whom Victoria loved dearly.
You are always with us, Victoria, in our hearts and souls forever. You have touched so many lives in such a positive way. You will truly be missed by all of us.
We will love you forever. May your Soul rest in peace, Beautiful Girl. You are in Heaven with Grandad and Grandma.
