Donald A Gillis February 17 1923 May 17 2018 (age 95)

Don passed away in his home in Halfmoon Bay. He is survived by his wife May, their children Robert and Barbara, and their grandchildren Kimberly, Gregg and Grace. He was predeceased by his parents Duncan and Florence, his two brothers Boyd and Norman and his grandson Jack. Born in Vancouver, but spent most of his childhood and working life in Burnaby. After graduating from Burnaby South High School, Don served in the Navy in WWII. After the war he attended UBC and graduated in Civil Engineering in 1951. He worked for the Greater Vancouver Regional District for 35 years. In 1988, Don built their retirement home at the site of their cabin in Halfmoon Bay where he spent many happy years building, fishing, sailing and enjoying the view from his deck. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the wonderful care Don received from the Sechelt Palliative Home Care staff who made it possible for him to spend his last days at home.
