Obituary of Ina McClelland
Peacefully surrounded by the love of her family, at the Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound, on Sunday morning, June 3rd, 2018. Ina Elizabeth McClelland (nee Taylor), of Owen Sound, at the age of 98 years. Cherished wife of the late Kenneth McClelland (1999). Dearly loved mother of Catherine McClelland (Rick Grant) and Elizabeth Glass (Iain). Elegant and devoted grandmother of Kenneth, Catherine “Katie”, David and Alexandra. Ina was born on March 30th, 1920 in Tofield, Alberta and moved to Owen Sound at the age of 4 years into the care of her uncle and aunt, Robert and Ada Chalmers. She was a graduate of Dufferin School, the O.S.C.V.I. and Stratford Normal School. She taught elementary school at Garry Owen School in Sydenham Township and Dufferin Public School with a focus on teaching grade one children to read. Ina was a founding member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and Baker Street Women’s Club. A staunch Presbyterian, a crack bridge player, and a true and loyal friend who embraced every life stage and change with optimism and fortitude. Thanks to Anna, Delores and Betty for seeing her through. Onward and upward.
A Graveside Service for Ina McClelland will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Owen Sound, on Wednesday, June 6th at 12:00 noon with Rev. Ted Creen officiating. If so desired, the family would appreciate donations to the charity of your choice as your expression of sympathy and may be made through the BRIAN E.
