Obituary for
Paul Friend
On May 31, 2018, Paul Friend of Edmonton passed away at the age of 94 years.
Paul is survived by his sister, Olga Mahowich of Vancouver, BC; brother, Mike (Judy) Chorney of Abbotsford, BC; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his wife, Molly Ann; parents, Theodore and Tekela Friend; brothers, Peter, John, William; and sister, Annie Maze.
Paul served in the Canadian Armed Services in 1942 – 1945 as a trained signal operator under Commanding Officer John Warneke. Paul was the last surviving member of 2nd Canadian Core Signals Division.
The family thanks the doctors, nurses and staff of the University of Alberta Hospital Fireman’s Burn Unit for their care for Paul.
Funeral Service Wednesday, June 6 at 10:00 a.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 – 111 Avenue. Paul Croteau officiating with interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Field of Honour. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made directly to Norwood Legions Veterans Association #178, 11150 – 82 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5B 2V1, or a charity of choice.
