OBITUARY
Martin Dovich
11 January , 1933 – 11 April , 2018
DOVICH, Martin, age 85 years. He passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in Kelowna, BC. He was predeceased by his parents: Walter and Helen Dovich, and two brothers: Alex and John.
He is survived by his wife: Betty-Ann and his three children: Darcy, Monica and Terry. He is also survived by his brothers: Stan (Annie) Dovich of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; Leonard Dovich of McBride, BC; Dennis (Ronnie) Dovich of Didsbury, Alberta; and sisters Doris Lorenson of Calgary, Alberta; Gloria (Mel) Pond of Republic, Washington, USA; Joan Curran of Lethbridge, Alberta and Darlene (Darryl) Bildstein of Kelowna, BC; a lot of cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Martin was born on January 11, 1933 at Limerick, Saskatchewan. He moved to the Brockington district from Lakenheath, Saskatchewan in 1934. He attended Pine Bluff School from 1940-1949. In 1952, he left Brockington for Kelowna, BC. After moving to Kelowna, he worked in the sawmill and logging industry. He married Betty-Ann Hugo on Easter Sunday, April 2, 1961, in the old Rutland Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Highway 33, Kelowna, BC. They lived in Merritt/ Quilchena, BC after their marriage and he was employed at the sawmill there. They then moved to Williams Lake, BC and he was employed at the sawmill there. They stayed there for four years. In 1965, they moved to Kelowna, In 1968, he attended Okanagan College in Kelowna and took a carpentry course. He was employed in the construction industry as a journeyman carpenter. He worked on buildings at the Big White Ski Resort, Kelowna, BC. He built homes around Kelowna, BC. He worked at the Ciminco Mill in Trail, BC. He also worked in the Canadian Provinces of Alberta and Ontario.
His carpentry builds: he built desks for himself and his children. He built his wife a sewing desk. He built things for Rutland Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He built a patio and stairs for his current place of residence. These are just some of his builds.
He retired in 1998. During his retirement he liked to do gardening. He liked to bake bread and make meals. He liked to cook and bake using his recipes from his recipe books. He liked to read, do puzzle books and listen to music. He was a deacon in the Rutland Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Funeral Services will be held at the Rutland Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 130 Rutland Road, Kelowna, BC on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 11:00 am, viewing held prior to the service with interment in Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery on Tuesday May 15, 2018 at 2:00 pm.Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.valleyviewfuneralhome.com for the Dovich family.
