Wright, Ann
May 14th, 2018
Passed away peacefully, at age 75, at Chartwell Long Term Care Residence, London, Ontario on Monday, May 14, 2018. Ann was the adored wife of Noel/Noël and loving surrogate Mum to many needy cats and dogs, and foster children; also a devout naturalist. Ann is survived by brother-in-law Maurice Wright and his wife Shirley, Ottawa; sister-in-law Judith Wright, Minneapolis; cousin Marilyn Stafford, Napanee; cousins Christopher Wynne, London, UK and Celia Dickens, Writtle Chelmsford, UK; and beloved nieces and nephews in Ontario, Canada. Ann’s Mum and Dad, Ivy (née Taylor) and John Henry Cartledge, came from England to Canada in the 1920’s to start a new life in Toronto (Willowdale). They got to experience the ‘1929 Crash’ and the Great Depression, followed by WWll when Ann’s dad joined the Veterans Guard of Canada. Ann appeared in 1943 while Dad was deployed; he must have had occasional leave. Ann attended Earl Haig High School in Willowdale and enjoyed athletics. On graduation, she went to work for Ontario Hydro downtown Toronto. She transferred to North York Borough/City in the Medical Officer of Health’s Department. Ann moved to Ottawa in 1973 with her husband (in the Federal Government). Ann and Noel came to London in 1985 where she was employed at University Hospital for 25 years as a PSA/PSW until 2014. She will be deeply missed by family, friends and neighbours; some have stated Ann never spoke a mean word about anyone or complained about work. She especially liked all her co-workers and being a PSW. Noel wishes to thank, from the bottom of his heart, the caregivers at Chartwell LTC Residence London, the staff at Alzheimer Society London and Middle and compassionate neighbours. The funeral service will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at HIGHLAND MEMORY GARDENS, 33 Memory Lane, Willowdale (Toronto) on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. All welcome at both or either service. Ann would be pleased if donations would be made to animal protection-humane societies, nature preservation, Alzheimer Society London and Middle or Autism Ontario – London Chapter.
