Fred J. Green
October 13, 1937 – November 16, 2017
It is with much sadness and love that we announce the passing of Frederick (Fred) James Green at the age of 80 years.
On November 16, 2017, the world lost a remarkable man. He will forever be remembered by his wife Gerri of 38 years, sons Barrett (Carla) of Calgary and Brent (Tracy) of Morinville, granddaughters Kassandra, Haillee and Jaeda, special cousins Kitty and Eleanor, and numerous friends and family.
Fred was born an only child in Dundee, Scotland to Cyril and Muriel Green.
He emigrated to the United States in 1962 where he started his career in insurance and worked his way to Assistant Treasurer with Crane Corporation.
In 1974 the prairies were calling.
He jumped in a mustang and headed west in pursuit of his dream of farming.
While operating a 100 head cow-calf operation, he taught full time for the Peace River School Division and later was Educational Coordinator for Fairview

Fred was a popular teacher and influenced the hearts and minds of many young students.
Fred enjoyed life to the fullest, travelling extensively with his sweetheart to Australia, Fiji, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Hawaii, Mexico and enjoyed sailing the Sea of Cortez on their boat Escapade for over 25 years. He loved anything to do with the great outdoors – mountaineering, rock climbing, hiking, cycling, kayaking, canoeing and sailing. He would often back country hike alone, with his devoted dog by his side, sending spots to let Gerri know he was ok.
This past summer, at age 79, Fred climbed the three highest peaks in Tumbler Ridge before falling ill.
Fred was a gentle, kind, humble soul, who always had a kind word for everyone. A soft smile, a twinkle in his eye. We will remember him often, with great love and admiration.
He was predeceased by his parents Cyril and Muriel of Scotland.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday May 5, 2018 at 1:00 pm from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #253, Grimshaw, Alberta.

A Memorial Service & Gathering will take place in Spring 2018 at Royal Canadian Legion #253 in Grimshaw.
