Roland Lavoie
It is with great sadness that the family of Roland Lavoie announce his sudden passing on February 26, 2018 at the age of 88. Roland was born on October 8, 1929 in Prince Albert, Sask, the middle child of three born to Alfred and M. Louise Lavoie of Debden, Sask. Roland married Theresa Rehman of Provost, Alberta on October 14, 1954.
Roland had a varied career that spanned logging, oil rigs and corrections, working throughout western Canada. However, the majority of his working years were spent running the family farm in Debden, where Roland and Theresa raised five children.
Roland is predeceased by his parents, Alfred and M Louise Lavoie (nee Beaulieu) in 1966 and 1973 respectively.
Roland is survived by his loving wife, Theresa, of over 63 years, his children Ron (Debbie), Louise (Dale Ross), John, Roch (Sherri), Denis (Lori). Ten grandchildren Chris (Jennifer) Lavoie, Arlene (Beau Stobbs), Lee (Guylaine) Ross, Robyn (Adam Meek), Jamie (Jordan Thomson) Ross, Sasha Ross, Marie (Geoff Smith), Jason (Elanna Huck) Lavoie, Justin Lavoie, Colton (Carly Polsom) Lavoie. Eleven great grandchildren Kyler Mackin, Erin Lavoie, Sean Lavoie, Parker Stobbs, Penelope Meek, Sawyer Stobbs, Owen Lavoie, Cain Meek, Atticus Meek, Reid Thomson and Logan Smith. And his sisters Salange Franceour and Jeanine (Mike Bewza).
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 1 at 10:00 AM at the Lac St. Anne Catholic Church. A private internment will be held at a later date. The family would like to sincerely thank the EMT staff of the Alberta Beach Station #2 and the doctors and nurses at the Stony Plain and University Hospitals for their care and support. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
