Send Sympathy Card
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother at the De Salaberry District Health Centre (St-Pierre-Jolys Hospital) on Saturday, March10, 2018 at the age of 84 years. Her kind heart suddenly stopped.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Glenn, Richard (Sally), Mario (Nicole) and Julie (Michel); her grandchildren: Zachary, Daniel and Josée; and her sisters: Bernadette Plamondon and Yvette Fortin. Rita also leaves behind additional extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her father Joseph; her mother Alphonsine; her sisters Lucille and Marguerite; her children Joanne, Larry and Guy; and the father of her children Laurent.
Rita was born in Hearst, Ontario on October 29, 1933. She worked many years as a cook in various fishing camps with her favorite being the one located in the Arctic. She moved to Manitoba shortly after her first grandchild was born and continued her cooking career until retirement. Apart from being a great cook, she was known for her kindness and her ”joie de vivre”. She enjoyed entertaining and receiving guests at her home. No one left her place hungry!
Cremation has taken place and in accordance with Rita’s wishes a private family memorial service/celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff at Chalet Malouin, Southern Health-Santé Sud (home care) and St-Pierre-Jolys Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rita’s memory may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200 – 6 Donald Street, Wpg., MB R3L 0K6 or CancerCare Manitoba, 1160-675 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
