Obituary of Mary Deschamps
Mary Margaret Deschamps, 79, formerly of Antigonish, passed away peacefully in Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough, surrounded by her two nieces and sister, Sunday, March 11, 2018. Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late John Alex and Margaret (Blackburn) MacGillivray of Lakevale.
Mary moved to Massachusetts at a young age where she worked as a nanny for a number of years. She then moved to Salem MA, with her husband Roger. Later they lived in Port Hawkesbury, then Antigonish. She then moved to Mississauga, where she worked at the GM plant. After retirement she returned to Antigonish.
Mary was predeceased by her husbands Kit Thibault and Roger Deschamps, nine brothers, Johnnie, Hugh, Frank, Cyril, Angus, Colin, Doug, Gerard and Wayne MacGillivray, sisters-in-law Janice, Bernadette, Annette and Rita MacGillivray and brother-in-law Charles Knocton.
Surviving are sisters Florence (Don) Collins, Catherine Knocton, Antigonish, brothers Allan (Debbie), Vince (Bobbi), Arisaig, Leo (Donalda), Antigonish, Tony, Lanark, Ken (Kim) Vanderhoof, BC, Phil (Joan), Fort St. James, BC, and a large number of nieces and nephews, special nieces Patricia MacGillivray and Hughena Carroll.
Mary loved to entertain, do crafts and have family gatherings.
There will be a private family service.
Donations to Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough.
