Sidney Hubley
Hubley, Sidney Charles – 79 of Dartmouth, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018 at home after a brief illness. Born in Indian Harbour, Nova Scotia, he was the eldest son of the late Lawrence and Doris Hubley. Sid’s first career was as an Electronics Technician with Sperry Gyroscope and the Halifax Dockyard, but his true passions were woodworking and fixing things. He moonlighted as a vacuum salesman/repairman before beginning his second career as a home renovator. His home reno business allowed him to touch wood every day and save people from their personal home improvement disasters. He was a man of many hobbies, to name a few, fisherman, furniture builder and re-upholsterer, racing canoe repairman, photographer, rose gardener, model boat builder, berry picker and crypto quote solver. He was captivated by the weather. Sid is survived by his wife of 41 years Nancy Anne (Knox), his daughters Laura, Dartmouth, Peggy (Tom Jamin), Valemount BC, Ellen (Hubley) Sabean (Don), Dartmouth, sons Charlie, Grand Prairie, AB and Matthew (Jane), Dartmouth; sisters, Darlene Fralick, Kathy Ossinger, both of Hackett’s Cove, Vivian Boyd, Halifax, and Derinda, Liverpool, and brother Ainsley (Christine) Hubley, Indian Harbour. Sid loved his grandchildren Katie (Hubley) MacIntosh (Jody), Ainslie Sabean, Emily Sabean, Charlie, Joe and Jack. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Nancy Louise (Landry) Hubley and brother Kevin. A Celebration of Life will be held at Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth on Thursday, March 8, 2018 between 4:00 and 8:00 pm. A private family memorial will be held on a later date. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Arthritis Society.
