Obituary Overview
William Elliott
With deep sadness the family of Bill Elliott announces his passing on February 25, 2018 after a recent illness. Bill was born in Regina on January 16, 1923 and grew up in Admiral. He later went to the University of Saskatchewan and in 1947 married Mary Proctor, who was a school teacher in Admiral. Bill operated a general store and John Deere dealership in Admiral for many years. In 1961 the family moved to Unity where Bill began his career with the Farm Credit Corporation (FCC). His career with FCC also took him to Yorkton and to Saskatoon where Bill and Mary retired.
He was predeceased by his parents Herb and Evelyn Elliott; his infant sister Winnifred; his wife Mary (2007); his brother-in-law Alf Selvig and sister-in-law Myrt Selvig. He leaves behind his son Robert (Joan) of Saskatoon; grandson Nathan of Regina; granddaughter Megan and great-grandson Soloman of Christopher Lake; daughter Bev (Jim) of Calgary; granddaughter Tracy and great-granddaughters Taylor and Morgan of Calgary.
For many years, Bill was active in the United Church and later in the Presbyterian Church in Saskatoon. He loved sports and in his youth participated in competitive baseball, hockey and curling. He greatly enjoyed observing his children’s and grandchildren’s academic, athletic and professional endeavours and was so very proud of their accomplishments.
In their retirement, Bill and Mary took many camping trips in Saskatchewan and also travelled extensively in western Canada and southwestern United States. Bill lived at the Primrose Chateau for several years and for the past two years resided at Stonebridge Crossing Retirement Community where he made many new friends. Family was very important to Bill and he had a profound influence on us. We will miss his loving guidance and will cherish his dedication to us.
Special appreciation is extended to the staff at Stonebridge Crossing and to Bill’s family physician Dr. Arun
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of William Herbert Elliott 2018.source
