John Howard Copp
1948-2018
It is with great sadness that we
announce the passing of John Howard Copp,
69, of Amherst, NS at the QEII Hospital, Halifax, on Sunday, February
11, 2018 following a lengthy illness. Born in Amherst, John
was the only son of Walter and Audrey (Wells) Copp.
He was predeceased by his father,
Walter, in 2000 and grandparents Albert and Mae Copp and Prescott and
Annie wells.
John is survived by his loving and
devoted wife of fourty-two years, Barbara (nee Angus) Copp; one son,
John (Margo) Copp, and two granddaughters, Olivia and Alexis, of
Halifax; a sister, Karen (Wayne Wheaton; his mother, Audrey Copp,
Amherst, as well as several cousins.
John was employed at the Springhill
Correctional Institute and later owned and operated Can Doo Sales and
Services Auto Body. He became owner operator of Miracle
Water Systems Ltd, until he retired due to his health. John
had a keen interest in antique cars, especially his blue Mustang which
was featured in the Nova Scotia Mustang Club, 2016 calendar.
He was a member of the Cumberland Car Club and served as
President. In addition he was a member of the Knights of
Pythias.
John enjoyed being with family and
friends, snowmobiling, motorcycling, traveling, and camping at the
beach with Barb in their motorhome. He also enjoyed going to
the antique car shows with his best friend, George.
Arrangements are under the care and
guidance of the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church
Street, Amherst (902-667-8777) from where a celebration
of John’s life will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, February 15,
2018. Ruth Gamble DLM presiding. Following the
service, all are invited to remain in the reception area of the
Furlong~Jones Funeral Home for a time of fellowship and to continue to
share memories of John. Interment will take place at the
Riverside Cemetery, Tidnish, NS at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory
of John may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
