Obituary for Elizabeth “Ruth” Wilton
February 6th 1950 – February 11th 2018
Passed away peacefully on Sunday February 11th in Mackenzie Health Richmond Hill following a lengthy battle with ALS. She leaves behind her loving husband of 45 years Alex, sons Scott (Veronika) and Kevin (Jessica), and sister Karen (Alastair). Our sincere thanks to Dr. Brian Berger and the wonderful staff of the Palliative Care Unit.
Born in Newmarket to the late Janet Harper (née Lawrie) and the late William Harper, Ruth was raised in Richmond Hill and fulfilled her dream from the age of 8, by becoming a teacher at Oak Ridges Public School from 1970 until her retirement in 2015. Over those years she was delighted to teach more than one generation of some families. A truly dedicated teacher who loved her students.
A very special thank you to Daisy Olivar and Iza Corpuz for the excellent care they gave Ruth over the last several months – their service to Ruth was above and beyond what we could have ever hoped for.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to the ALS Society of Canada (www.als.ca).
Visitations at Marshall Funeral Home, 10366 Yonge St., Richmond Hill (www.marshallfuneralhome.com) will be on March 2nd, from 2pm – 4pm and 6pm – 9pm, and a memorial service at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, 10030 Yonge St., Richmond Hill on March 3rd at 11:00am
Order Flowers
