Obituary of Kay Crabtree
Crabtree, Kaye Lynn (Thornton) – September 21, 1945 – February 9, 2018 – It is with profound sadness that we say goodbye to Kaye at the early age of 72. She passed away peacefully at her home on February 9, 2018 surrounded by family. Cherished wife of David for 48 years. Beloved mother to Robert (Sherry), Kathy (Rito) and Jim (Elisa). Loving Nana to Harrison, Ashely, Kalli and David. She will also be deeply missed by her sister, Karen and her many other friends and extended family. She is predeceased by her parents, John and Clara Thornton of Peterborough.
As a self taught artist, Kaye spent many happy years teaching her love of oil painting to children and adults. Her favourite place was her childhood cottage in Buckhorn. Kaye had a playful spirit and enjoyed playing cards and games, especially poker. She was a gambler at heart and loved going to the casino. Her love of dogs will not be forgotten. She had a special connection with her beloved golden retrievers, they were always part of the family.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 from 6-8p.m. at the Vineland Chapel of Tallman Funeral Homes, 3277 King St. Vineland. The Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at 11:00a.m. Luncheon to follow. Cremation will take place and a private ceremony held for the burial at the Mount Osborne Cemetery, Beamsville, in the spring.
Heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Marshall and the Palliative Care team at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital for the outstanding care and emotional support during this difficult time. If desired, doantions can be made to West Lincoln Memorial Hospital Foundation.
