Obituary for Glenna Absalom (Irish)
In Loving Memory
of
Glenna Mae Absalom
(nee Irish)
80 years
Peacefully Monday, February 5th, 2018 at the Maison McCulloch Hospice, with loving family at her side.
Beloved wife of Ray Absalom predeceased 2000. Cherished daughter of Mary and Clarence Irish predeceased. Loving sister and best friend to Lucy Marcotte (Gerry Martin). Special niece to Clara Turner and Arnold Hawkins. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Glenna loved life and embraced every day with enthusiasm and determination. Glenna owned and operated Lockerby Beauty Salon for forty-five years. She was always very happy when doing hair and chatting with her customers who have also become great friends. Most of all, she loved her camp on Naraka Lake, where she had entertained many people over the years. She enjoyed travelling and going to the casino. Her passion was figure skating. She and her sister Lucy attended Canadian and International competitions, meeting many champion figure skaters. They appreciated the beauty, the intensity, and the competition of the sport. The Toronto Blue Jays were also a great love of Glenna’s. She always thought that Edwin Encarnacion #10 was the best. She was really upset when he went to play for the Cleveland Indians. Among other sports, she enjoyed golf, synchronized swimming, horse events, and curling. Being artistic, she loved to do floral arrangements, fruit baskets, and knitting.
Thank you to all of Glenna’s caregivers at Maison McCulloch Hospice, the Bayshore PSWs, and a special thank you to nurses Tracy and Gabby.
