POELZER, Raphael (Ray)
September 26, 1931 – Humboldt, Saskatchewan
February 3, 2018 – Okotoks, Alberta
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ray Poelzer; husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Ray enjoyed 86 years of life and embraced it to the fullest. He met the love of his life Kathleen Elliott in September of 1952 in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. They married on April 21st, 1954 in Humboldt and embarked upon life’s wonderful journey together. While raising his… family, Ray thoroughly enjoyed God’s creations in nature and passionately shared these joys with his grandchildren. Most of Ray’s working life was spent engineering prominent pipelines across Canada. A highlight in Ray’s career was the opportunity to construct a pipeline in New Zealand. His love for nature called him back to farming near Gull Lake, Saskatchewan. Ray’s work ethic was second to none and he always prided himself on a job well done. There was nothing Ray loved more or held closer to his heart than his family and his faith in God. Ray never failed to lift the spirits of those around him with his cheerful jokes, lovable humor, and strong faith. He will be missed dearly by many people whose hearts he touched.
He is survived by Kathleen his loving wife of sixty-three amazing years, his children Rene (Arlene), Bruce (Linda), Keith (Aurelie), Tim (Julie), Ron, Mark (Julia), 20 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
Ray is also survived by siblings Sister Dolores Poelzer, Jerome and Bernard Poelzer. He was predeceased by his parents Michael and Elizabeth and his sisters Rita Wiederholt, Sister Zita Marie Poelzer, Sister Agnes Poelzer, Mildred Lisowski, Sister Irene Poelzer, Angela Desmond and brothers Charles and Arnold Poelzer.
