Lillian May Stephen
1927-2018
It is with deep sadness that we announce the
passing of Lillian May (Anderson) Stephen of
Quispamsis, wife (of 55 years) of the late Dr. Wesley J.
Stephen Sr., which occurred at Kings Way Care Centre on
January 14, 2018. Lillian was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on
February 24, 1927; daughter of the late Samuel R. and Kathleen M.
(Williams) Anderson.
In 1948 she received her Registered Nurse
training at St. Mary’s Hospital in Montreal. Lillian was a
lifetime member of the CWL, a long-time member of the Riverside Golf
Club, and an avid bridge player. She also had a creative flair that
was very apparent with her numerous hobbies and endeavours.
Lillian’s obvious joy during her life was her family,
children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Dr.
Wesley J. Stephen Sr., her aunt Lillian (Williams) (Sydney) Weston,
and her brother Walter R. Anderson.
She is survived by five daughters: Theresa
(Estyl) Mooney of Mahone Bay, NS; Patricia (Judy Wilson) Sassine of
Quispamsis, NB; Kathleen (Bruce) Phillips of Riverview, NB; Elizabeth
(Brian) Wilson of Clifton Royal, NB; and Judith (Michael Smith)
Stephen of Sechelt, BC. She is also survived by four sons: David
(Dianne) Stephen of Moncton, NB; Richard (Lemin Wu) Stephen of Saint
John, NB; Robert Stephen of Rothesay, NB; and Dr. Wesley (Charlene)
Stephen of Ancaster, ON; Lillian was a proud grandmother to her 16
grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the
communities of both Rocmaura Nursing Home and Kings Way Care for their
excellent care and attention during Lillian’s lengthy
Alzheimer illness.
A private funeral Mass was held on January 16,
2018, at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road,
Quispamsis (849-2119), followed by burial at St. Joseph’s
Cemetery. Donations to the Dr. David Stephen Memorial Fund, the
Children’s Wish Foundation, or the charity of your choice
would be appreciated.
