Lyn began her life in… Read More » Unity, Saskatchewan. She lived on the family farm until moving to Prince Albert at age three where she spent a happy childhood with doting parents. When she was eleven she returned to Unity, and a few years later moved to Saskatoon to became a boarder at Our Lady of Sion convent to attend high school. While there she made many friends, and became a champion basketball player. After graduation in 1961, she joined the congregation of the Sisters of Sion. During this time, she lived in Moose Jaw and Winnipeg. After leaving the order she completed her B.Ed., moved to Calgary and began a teaching career at Bishop Grandin, St. Mary’s and Bishop Carroll High Schools.
Lyn was an inspired teacher, held in high esteem by her peers and students. She shared her love and passion of art and concluded her teaching career as department head. In 1975, while continuing to teach, her love and appreciation of artists and love of art led her to establish the first Western Canadian arts magazine ‘’Arts West.’’ Due to declining health she retired in 2005. In 2015, she moved to Penticton to be closer to family who gave generous, loving support. Lyn had a huge heart and spirit, putting others first. Every one she met fell in love with her, including the care-givers who came to know her in her last years. Her life was grace and a gift. To honour her memory a garden will be established at Pentoka Care Home for the enjoyment of its special care residents. A celebration of her life will be held in Penticton in August, as she wished. Her powerful, loving and joyful presence will always be cherished and missed by her family and friends.
“If only every one could see the world through an artist’s
eyes and see the creator behind the creation’’
