Life Story for Richard “Larry” Turner
On Tuesday January 9th 2018, Larry Turner passed away peacefully at Chartwell Long Term Care in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Loving husband of Donna, father of Raymond (Denise) and Grant. Special Dad to John, Sandra (Steve), Diane (Leonard), Paul (Kari), Sara (Rob). Grandpa to Taylor, Jack, Lindsey (Eric), Amelia (Ben) and Great Grandpa to Gillian.
Larry graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1959 as a Civil Engineer. Larry was the Plant Engineer at Hiram Walker & Sons in Windsor for 25 years. Upon retiring, he moved to Niagara-on-the-Lake where he completely rebuilt and renovated a nineteenth century home from which he and Donna operated as a Bed & Breakfast for more than ten years. Larry was a member of Grace United Church, previously was part of the Niagara-on-the-lake Rotary Club and the Friends of Fort George.
Special thanks to Dr Adams and Dr Brunner and to all of the wonderful and caring staff on the Riverview Floor at Chartwell.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Larry’s life will be held on Sunday January 14th at Grace United Church, 222 Victoria Street, Niagara-on-the-Lake. Visitation from 2:30-3:00pm and service at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace United Church www.graceunitedchurch.com.
