Obituary of Mieke Van Wetten
Van Wetten, Maria (Mieke) Johanna – Died peacefully on Jan 7, 2018. Born August 5, 1934 in Zoeterwoude, Netherlands to parents Christianus Kluiters and Elisabeth (Vandermeer). Wife of 61 years of Theodore (Dick) Vanwetten. Mother of Leonard (Cathy), Richard (Emma), Paul (Mandy), Chris (Sue) and Mike (Michelle). Oma of 18 grandchildren (and late grandchild, Nicholas) and 6 great-grandchildren.
Sister of Ad (Ank) Kluiters , Liz (Leo) Rotteveel, Corry VanHaasteren, the late Anne Redegeld, and late Nico Kluiters. Sister-in-law of Anneke Kluiters, Bella Hoogervoorst, Truus Hoogervoorst, Marta Vanwetten, Jacqueline Vanwetten, Willem (Hermine) Vanwetten and predeceased by Aad VanHaasteren, Tom Redegeld, Clara (Kees) Knyenburg, Theadora (Willem) Hogeroorst, Harry (Corry) Vanwetten, Sjef (Riet) Vanwetten, Hugo Vanwetten, Leen Vanwetten, Gerard (Agate) Vanwetten, Gerard Hogevoorst and Albert Knyenburg
Mieke moved to Canada in 1955 and married Dick. They lived in Toronto and Mississauga and raised 5 sons. She was a fantastic knitter and seamstress, did custom sewing and worked as fabric salesperson at various stores in Mississauga. In 2006, they moved to Ridgetown.
Memorial visitation will be held at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main St. East, Ridgetown, on Sunday January 14, 2018 from 1-3pm. Memories will be shared at 3pm at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Chatham-Kent or the Village on the Ridge.
