1944-2018
Delaney, Stirling Evan, 73, Truro Height’s, Col.
Co., passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018, in the QE II Health
Science Centre, Halifax. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late
Fulton and Freda (McNutt) Delaney. Stirling formerly played ball for
the Brookfield Elks in his younger years and also played for the Bear
Cats Old Timers. He spent many years playing Fast Pitch and Slow Pitch
baseball. He was a huge fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and also the
Toronto Blue Jays, and loved to play golf. Stirling worked for 43
years at Crossley’s Carpets, Truro. He also enjoyed creating
and tending his flower beds in his back yard. His pride was spending
time and supporting his grandchildren and his family whom was very
important to him. He also cherished his friends deeply.
He is survived by his companion Nancy Lee Porter; son John
(Melanie), Kentville; daughters Bonnie Delaney, Truro, Amanda
Lightbody (Kristi), Ontario; grandson Luca; step-daughters Jennifer
Porter, Truro, Carolyn Porter, Truro; step-grandchildren Riley,
Connor, Brody, Joseph; sister Gladys Gaskill, Truro.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife the
former Alice Robertson; step-grandson Kyle Porter; brother
Gerald.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall-Varner
Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. No visitation or funeral service
by family request. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian
Mental Health Association or to a charity of choice. Private messages
