Obituary for Frank Nigh
Passed away, peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, at his home, on Friday, January 5, 2018. Born in Seaforth, Ontario on March 4, 1935, to parents John and Mary (née Purcell) Nigh, Francis Joseph Nigh of RR#4 Seaforth, was in his 83rd year. Frank was a lifelong farmer who especially enjoyed raising horses. He was a long time member of the Seaforth Agricultural Society and chairman of the horse committee for many years. Family and friends could always count on a good game of cards and lots of laughter, while at Frank and Leona’s home.
Beloved husband for 61 years of Leona Nigh (née Finkbeiner). Loving father of Wayne Nigh (Laurie) of RR#7 Simcoe, the late Diane Kuepfer, Brian Nigh (Karen) of Seaforth and Allan Nigh (Mary) of RR#4 Seaforth. Cherished Grandpa of Erin, Emily and Aidan Nigh, Raymond Doell, Christopher Doell (Katrina), Shannon Greenlund (Mitch), Ashley Smith (Derek), Craig Nigh (Ashley), Amie Foster (Alan), Kate Holman (Scott), Brittany Nigh, Matt Nigh (Caitlin), Jake Nigh, and Great-Grandpa of Cohen, Halle and Connor Smith, Lauren and Seth Greenlund, Dace and Maeva Doell, Riley and Charlotte Foster, Colton Nigh and Breanna Holman. Dear brother of Louis Nigh (Betty) of Stratford, and brother-in-law of Betty Anne Nigh of Collingwood and Joan Nigh of Thamesford. Frank will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends.
Predeceased by his daughter Diane (2010), grandson Adam Nigh (2016), brothers Bill and John, his sister Mary Catherine Schwarz (Henry), mother-in-law Annie Finkbeiner and siblings-in-law Howard Finkbeiner (Berdie), Maurice Finkbeiner (Dorothy) and Louise Finkbeiner.
Visitation will be held at McGlynn Family Funeral Home, 87 Goderich St. W., Seaforth, Monday, January 8, 2018, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. (with Parish Prayers at 6:45 p.m.). Funeral Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Frank’s life will be held at St. James Catholic Church, 22 Victoria St., Seaforth, on Tuesday, January 9 at 11 a.m., led by Fr. Clare Coleman. A reception will follow at Branch 156, Seaforth Legion. Interment will take place in St. James Catholic Cemetery in the spring.
