Mary Philp 2018

Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory
Mary’s immediate family was with her during her final days. She was comfortable and passed peacefully. She was not alone as her eldest daughter Freda was at her bedside.
Mary Marshall met her tall RCAF navigator Sidney George Philp during the war years. The adventurous Yorkshire lass left England and all she knew to travel across the Atlantic to Canada. They raised their five children near Montreal on Ile Claude and in Pincourt, QC: Freda Cott – Oakville ON, Leslie Philp – Jasper ON, Edna Huggler – Aloha OR, James Philp – Edmonton AB (passed 2017) and Elizabeth Philp – Vaudreuil QC ). While Sid and Mary later lived in Jasper ON and Brockville ON, they took many trips exploring every province in this country she grew to love.
Mary will be remembered for her lively spirit and sense of humour. She was always ready to ‘have a giggle’ and loved the energy and light heartedness of young people. For many years she volunteered with the Girl Guides and worked at Macdonald High School in the cafeteria.
Mary was very creative and loved arts and crafts, knitting, sewing and cooking. She even taught herself to play the organ! But family was always her priority as evidenced by the many meals together, games nights, weekends at Lake Macdonald and wonderful holiday celebrations.
She will be greatly missed by her 4 surviving children and their partners, her 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Sincere thanks to the staff at the ChartwellWaterford LTC Residence in Oakville where Mary stayed these past three years. Their compassionate care was a deep source of comfort to her family.
A private memorial will be held in 2018. If you wish to honour Mary, a donation to Parkinson Canada would be appreciated by the family.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Mary Philp 2018.source
