Obituary for Rosemary Morden
Rosemary Lynne Morden (Nee Burke)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of dear Rosemary (Rose) Lynne Morden on January 1, 2018 at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was taken far too early from us and will be dearly missed by so many.
A loving and devoted wife to Ken, loving mother to Andrew and Roslyn Fisher (Chris) and adoring grandmother to Madison, Ryley, Blayke and Cole; loving daughter of Blanche and the late Frank Burke and brothers Doug (Lynne) and Peter (Sherri); loving sister-in-law to Julie Davis (Mike), Margaret; and adoring aunt and grandaunt to many nephews and nieces.
Throughout her life and in the face of daunting health challenges, which she met head on with courage and vigor, Rose’s kind, gracious and gentle ways endeared her to her many faithful friends who she truly cherished. Rose and her family are forever thankful for their unwavering support.
Foremost, Rose was a caring and loving wife and mother who was sincerely interested and delighted in all her children’s activities and accomplishments. Her gentle guiding hand is the rock to which our family will be forever grounded. She taught and lived the values of love, kindness and respect for others, and the importance of celebrating and embracing the differences that makes us who we are.
Rose was blessed with a strong faith and was ever seeking to learn more about her faith journey and exploring the wonders of meditation, spirituality and the benefits of yoga and healthy living through diet and exercise.
For forty years Rose provided daily care to countless neighbourhood pre-schoolers and up, and loved and treated them as if they were her own. Every day she could be seen at the local park immersed in the joys of her children at play. Rose was active in many local and community activities throughout her life; tennis, curling, skiing, cycling and rollerblading, bridge, gourmet cooking, St John’s United Church’s couples club, UCW, Angels and Dinner Theatre and latterly was an active participant at Wellspring House.
Her boundless love of life and her joy in being with others is best expressed in her many dinner parties for family and friends and her enthusiasm and cheering at Argo home games (aka “Argomom”) and Grey Cups while participating in the fun and festivities. We marvelled at her joy and happiness in the simple things in life: shopping on Talbot Street in Blenheim with family and friends, a stay in Wellington by the lake or the Red Umbrella Inn, the Fish Fry at the Legion, a game of crokinole or crib, live theatre in Port Hope, and her garden and butterflies, to name a few. She made the ordinary, extraordinary.
Visitation will be held on January 10, 2018 at Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A Celebration of her Life will be held the following day, Thursday January 11, 2018 at St John’s United Church, 262 Randall Street, Oakville at 11:00 a.m. with a reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may me made to Wellspring Birmingham Gilgan House. Please visit the Book of Memories at www.wardfuneralhome.com
