Pauline Ethier (nee Bourassa) died peacefully on Wednesday, December 27th at 83 years of age. Loving wife to Nil Ethier for 60 years who supported and tended to her in her final years. Loving mother of Joel (Cherrilyn) , Pierre (Karen), Philippe, Daniel. She will be greatly missed by her grand-children Darren, Zachary, Darren, Stefan, and great-grand-child Riley. Pauline was predeceased by her parents Lorenzo and Gertrude Bourassa (nee Cholette), and adopted brother Daniel Bourassa (nee Authier). Pauline was born on July 29th 1934 in Rouyn-Noranda. Married on June 17th, 1959 in Ville-Marie. Soon after the birth of her first child, Pauline and Nil moved to Sudbury and established “Chez Nils” Beauty Salon, which they operated for 40 years. In her early years, Pauline worked as a legal secretary. She studied Spanish and did Spanish, French, English translation for the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. She trained as a hairdresser and barber. Pauline enjoyed traveling and did an extended tour of Europe from northern Europe all the way to Morocco. She also visited Mexico, Venezuela, and the U.S. Pauline enjoyed spending summers at the cottage with her mother and children, often making blueberry pudding. She prepared wonderful family meals using old family recipes. She was a great hostess to her wine and cheese soiree’s. Pauline was always gracious, attentive to detail, listened carefully and was wise in her advice. She will be missed but never forgotten. A memorial reception will be held on January 13, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Tubman at 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean ON, K2H 8H7 Phone: 613.726.0292.
