Obituary for Wojciech Latek
The time has come to say our final farewell to Wojciech Latek who passed away peacefully at home on November 25, 2017. Loving husband to Regina Latek for 45 years, father to five children, Jurand, Conrad, Adam, Matthew and Venessa, Grandfather to Waylon, Hope and Lily and friend to many.
Wojciech immigrated to Canada in 1958 from Poland, graduated from UBC in 1973 and founded Terra International Food Inc. in 1976 with his devoted wife and business partner Regina. Wojciech lived by the guiding principle, “You are only as good as your word is” which served him well in life, business and friendship.
Wojciech cherished family fishing trips to Vancouver Island and seized every opportunity to travel with his wife and children. Wojciech’s door was always open and he took it upon himself to get to know people in a genuine and caring manner. Blessed with a brilliant sense of humor, Wojciech would light up a room with his engaging personality and glowing smile.
A memorial service laying Wojciech to rest will be held at St. Casimir’s Church on Saturday December 2nd, 2017 at 10:30 am, followed by burial at Ocean View Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held to share Wojciech’s memory.
A special thank you to all the medical staff who assisted Wojciech, especially, Dr. D. Taylor, Dr. T. Kalla, Dr. A. Otto and the Vancouver Community Dialysis Unit.
