Obituary
It is with profound sadness the family announces the passing of William (Willi) Krenkel on August 23, 2017.
Willi was predeceased by Else, his wife of 68 years in 2016 and his son-in-law, Murray McCoy in 2011.
Willi will be fondly remembered and missed by his children Peter (Gail), Marilyn (Terry), Harold (Stacy) and Cornelia all living in Alberta, and his brother Friedel Kränkel in Bunde, Germany.
He was Opa to nine grandchildren; Jody (Colin), Karlie (Michael), Christy (Mike), Kellie (Ingmar), Chris (Heather), Nicole (Rylan), Sara, Erin, and Liam. He was Uhr OPA to seven great grandchildren; Zachary, Owen, Madison, Adilee, Kennedy, Harlow and Teddy.
Willi was born third into a family of six children in Hiddenhausen, Germany. In 1948, Willi married Else and she remained his best friend and loving wife. They decided to immigrate to Canada 1952 to start a new life, settling in the Bretona area.
They brought their optimism and dreams along with their hard work, dedication and thriftiness. This carried them through the very difficult years and allowed them to build their dairy farm. Willi was a quiet man who loved the land and in his latter years enjoyed reading, playing cards, and cheering for his favourite sports teams, but his family remained his greatest love.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, August 31, 2017, at Connelly-McKinley Edmonton South Chapel, 4820 Meridian Street NW Edmonton, with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow at South Haven Cemetery.
