Vida Oler

VIDA MARGARET OLER 28/11/1925 – 03/03/2010 Vida was born in Ogden, Utah, and moved with her family to Stirling, Alberta when she was three years old. She passed away peacefully at the Prairie Ridge Good Samaritans on March 3, 2010. Vida was predeceased by her parents, Mark and Jessie Oler, sisters June (Larry) Junior, Bertha (Doug) Keep and Lucy (Walter) Duncombe and brothers Harold (Katherine) Oler and Bud (Sylvia) Oler. She is survived by her sister Louie (Carl) Allred, her sister-in-law Sylvia Oler and brother-in-law Walter Duncombe. Vida will be warmly remembered by many nieces and nephews and countless others that were cared for by her as children. She was also dear to those who took care of her in her declining years. Vida made friends and a lasting impression wherever she was. She took extreme joy and true delight in children and babies and always made everyone feel they were special to her. She was a master with a crochet hook and patiently taught many her craft. Vida was a member of The Church of Jesus-Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed many years working in the nursery. Vida lost her father at a young age and went with her mother to live and work in a “cook car” that travelled around to feed crews of men harvesting the crops of the season. She lived with her mother in the family home in Stirling until her mother’s passing and then she moved to Raymond to the Ridge View Lodge where she resided for ten years. She spent the remainder of her life in the Raymond Long Term Care and most recently the Prairie Ridge Good Samaritans. Vida truly loved all who cared for her and we deeply thank the staff of the Raymond Long Term and Acute Care and those at the Good Samaritans for your kindness and gentle care of our beloved Vida. Friends may meet the family on Monday, March 8, 2010 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge. The Graveside Service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Stirling Cemetery.
