Verne was born in Pathlow Sask. His early years were spent working at CN rail and surveying in Sask. An ad in the newspaper brought him and his young family to Edmonton to work for Premier Steel for 10 years. In 1964 the family moved to Calgary to work for Western Rolling Mills. The highlight and adventure of his working years was surveying in the Arctic.
He took extreme pride in his children, his 12 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
He had a lifelong love affair with lemon meringue pie, peanut butter, coffee, (especially Tim’s ), black licorice, Ray Griff, liver and onions, gardening,
curling, hockey, golf, football, baseball (basically all sports).
Verne would like to let you know that his work here is done. He received an offer he couldn’t refuse that included the signing bonus of a reunion with his beloved Betty, his dog Mitsy, his twin brother Keith, his Mother, and all those gone before him. He will also meet his Father for the first time.
We know Dad would like us to celebrate his love of life by continuing to live our lives to the fullest. Low adherence to this request will not be tolerated.
He was gently cradled out of life surrounded by his family.
We would like to thank the many people who took special care of our Dad especially Dr. Patocka, and the amazing caring staff at Devon General Hospital.
