GARRON, Vera Adelene – 83, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2017, in Roseway Manor. Born on April 20, 1934, Vera was a tough, courageous, hard-working woman with a heart of gold. Many years ago, after Mort’s passing, Vera moved to Halifax and later on to Ontario where she was involved in horses and horse racing with her common-law husband Paul. After losing Paul in 2011, Mom moved home to Shelburne County to be close to her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mom and Nannie will always be remembered as being “tough as a burnt boot” with a great sense of humour. Vera was predeceased by her first husband, Morton Garron; her common-law husband, Paul Armstrong; brother, Sidney Nickerson Jr (Bubby); her parents, Winnefred and Sidney Nickerson; and special son-in-law Paul Smith. She is survived by daughters, Sherry, Jerry (Stephen) Atwood, Kinsley Garron (Norma); sister-in-law Helen Nickerson; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Barrington. There will be a private graveside ceremony in the spring. Donations in Mom’s name may be made to the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation or the Roseway Manor.
