Theresa Appolonia Maze passed away peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Unity Health Centre with her family by her side. Theresa was born in Macklin, Sk. on February 9, 1929. She is survived by her loving husband Jack Maze, her children Doug (Patti) Mitchell, Jeremy(Krista), Heather (Ben), Jansen, Chelsea (James), Murray (Judy) Mitchell, Twilla (Dion), Travis (Amanda), Angie, Bonnie (Ken) Kachur, Tyler (Sue), Jon (Meagan), Andrew (Chantal), Roger (Edie) Mitchell, Brad (Elise) ,Carrie (Cal), Kristen (Larissa), Gary (Laurie) Mitchell ,Mathea, Kiara, Dale (Rita) Mitchell ,Otto, Tessa, Molly, Jack’s daughter Glenna (Clay) Hirsch, Bryce (Lauren), Corby (Sarah), and twenty great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Frank Jansen, Marie Mildenberger, Peter (Phyllis) Jansen, John (Helen) Jansen, Anne Dundon, Jerome (Valeria) Jansen, James Jansen, Jeanette (Tony) Kollman, Agnes Flanagan, Gen (Harold) Kennedy, Ray (Brenda) Jansen, sister- in- law Helen (Tony) Yochim, numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband Leo Mitchell, her parents John and Appolonia Jansen, a brother Ben Jansen, a sister, Sister Delores Jansen, brother and sister- in- laws Irl Flanagan, Dave Dundon, Don Mildenberger, Valerie Jansen, and Alvina Jansen.
Theresa was raised on a farm near Unity with 13 brothers and sisters. As a young girl she developed a strong work ethic and spent a great deal of time helping to raise her younger siblings. In 1949 she married Leo Mitchell and was blessed with six children. Theresa was a faith-filled loving wife and mother who took great pride in her family and home. She was an excellent cook and loved to share her delicious food with family and friends. Her home was the centre of many fun-filled parties and sing-a-longs. She enjoyed gardening, curling, shuffling and learned to golf at age 61. Theresa and Leo took numerous trips and enjoyed wintering in Palm Springs for 15 years. Leo passed away in 1994 which left a big hole in Theresa’s life. Later this would be filled when she married a long time family friend Jack Maze . Theresa was blessed to be married to two fun-loving, compassionate husbands. They brought her much joy and laughter with their sharp wit, jokes and pranks. Theresa loved spending time with her 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. They brought her much joy and happiness. Theresa was a long time member of the Royal Purple, Hospital Auxiliary and CWL. Her faith was always an important part of her life.
Theresa’s family would especially like to thank Jack for his sincere love and compassion for Theresa during her struggles with Alzheimers over the last few years. A special thanks also goes to the staff of Kindersley Heritage Manor and Unity Health Centre and to Dr Linda Bloem for their care and compassion as well as to Theresa’s angel Wanda Krupka.
