Solomon Hattum
HATTUM: Solomon Hattum, age 86, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2017, surrounded by love with his family by his side. Sol was born January 27, 1931 at the family homestead in the Gouverneur area. Sol met his wife, Ruby Adelia, and married on November 5, 1957. They settled on a farm south of Cadillac where Sol built a home, raised their family and remained on the farm until retiring and moving to Swift Current in 2011. Sol enjoyed playing and watching sports, hunting, cards, dancing and socializing. There wasn’t a western book or movie that Sol hadn’t read or seen. He was a hard worker and never turned down a friend in need. Sol especially loved spending time with friends and family, and sharing many a story with his granddaughters. Sol is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruby; children Alex, Sid (Debbie), Hassen, Richard, Mariam (Mike) Kazeil; granddaughters, Chelsey Hattum, Hali and Jenna Kazeil; sisters, Daisy (Tom) Schultz, Ziny (Hamid) Juma, Kate Sloman; brother Omer (Lorraine) Hattum; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A private family service was held at Warren’s Funeral Home on November 16, 2017. Sol will be always loved and greatly missed. Warren’s Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
