LAWRENCE, Ruth Agnes
July 5, 1925 ~ August 7, 2017
Ruth Agnes Lawrence (nee Gilbert) was born in Winchester, England, the first born of Ernest and Ethel Gilbert. She had six brothers and four sisters. She met and married Tom Lawrence during the Second World War and moved to Canada in 1946. Her and Tom farmed east of Carstairs until his passing in 1997. They had three daughters: Jenny (Ed) Grochmal, Susan Hughes, and Lou (Randy) Nail, and an honorary daughter Marlene Griffith from Watson Lake. She has six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Tom, her parents, and all ten siblings. She was a lifetime member of Carstairs Dardanelles IODE of fifty years.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Carstairs Legion, Branch #53, 121 – 10 Avenue, Carstairs, AB on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 1:00 pm. Her ashes will be laid to rest at the Bergen Cemetery.
