FIDDES, Norma Anita (nee Redmond)
Entered into rest in her 99th year on December 20th 2017 at Grandview Lodge, Dunnville.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, Rev. Dr. Victor Fiddes and their son John.
Norma is survived by her loving daughter Beth McKitrick of Calgary and her dear granddaughters Deborah, Katherine (Cory Chesla) and great grandson, Callum John.
She will be sadly missed by her many relatives and fondly remembered by her neighbours and friends.Norma was proud to be a descendant of the United Empire Loyalists and of her Irish ancestry. She earned and received an Honours B.A. from Queens University; a triple major in English, History and Philosophy.She was an accomplished pianist, holding an A.T.C.M. from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Norma served as the organist at Princess St. United Church in Kingston where Victor’s father was the Minister. It was music and their mutual unwavering faith that brought her and Victor together. Norma taught at two different high schools in Niagara Falls after graduating from Normal School (Teacher’s College) prior to her marriage in 1946. She was always very active in the Church leading worship services and various womens’ groups as an active member of the UCW. After settling in Cayuga, she founded and hosted a group for visually impaired women calling themselves the «VIPs».
Norma’s family is proud to attest to her long, amazing and accomplished life. She was and continues to be very much loved. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held in the Cayuga United Church on January 13th 2018 at 1:00 pm. Reception to follow in the Church basement. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Cayuga United Church in loving memory of Norma.
