RATHWELL, Merle Elizabeth
Passed away at Caressant Care, Marmora on Friday November 3, 2017. Merle Rathwell in her 100th year. Loving wife of the late Warden Andrew Rathwell “Jim”. Loved and missed by her daughter, Sharon Moore, of Springbrook, and daughter-in-law, Karyn Rathwell, Peterborough. Dear Grandmother of Michael Moore (Shari) of Ottawa, Christina Moore of Springbrook, Blair Rathwell (Khrystie) of Ennismore, Michelle Glover (Graham) of Peterborough, and Bradley Rathwell (Callie) of Peterborough. Special Great-Grandmother to Audrey and Lila Moore, Jack and Andrew Rathwell, Hannah and Aidan Glover, and Landon Rathwell. Predeceased by her son John Robert “Jack”, and son-in-law, John Leslie Moore, sister Lula Greer (James), brothers, Arnold, “Bob” Bell (Grace), and Elmer “John” Bell (Marjorie). Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives are invited to a Memorial Service at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, NORWOOD CHAPEL, 36 Queen Street, on Sunday November 12, 2017 at 1:00 PM. A Tweed Chapter No. 148 Order of the Eastern Star Service will commence at 12:00 PM. Interment Asphodel Norwood Cemetery. Reception to follow at the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Parish Hall. Merle was a Charter Member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Marmora, and achieved Life Member status. She worked for many years in the Post Office in Marmora, and was a talented seamstress. Her great sense of fun, and kindness will be remembered and missed.
