MASAMOTO MORISON TANAKA, beloved husband of the late Asako Tanaka, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the Edith Cavell Care Centre in Lethbridge at the age of 97 years. He is survived by his loving family: Mary (Cliff) Thomas, Ken (Midori) Tanaka, Amy (Ron) Yakimchuk and Glen (Pam) Tanaka; grandchildren: Derek (Jaime), Ryan and Russell (Tammy), Scott (Sally), Brent, Michelle, Carrie-Ann (Travis), Dean (Jerrica) and Jennifer, also five great grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters: Kay Oseki, Sue (Ted) Koyata, Nami (Roy) Ebata, and sister-in-law, Yoshie Hiraga and many nieces and nephews. Dad was born on January 1, 1914 in Haney, BC. He evacuated to Diamond City in 1942, lived in Coalhurst, and has resided in Lethbridge since 1952. He and Mom operated Tanaka Greenhouse for 25 years and he was a fixture at Thomas Greenhouse for 30 years. All the customers looked for “Grandpa”. The family would like to thank Peter Oka for keeping an eye out for Dad and for his many kindnesses. Friends may meet the family on Monday, August 22, 2011 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at THE BUDDHIST TEMPLE OF SOUTHERN ALBERTA, 470-40 Street South, with Rev. Y. Izumi officiating. Interment to follow at the Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge.,p> Flowers and koden are gratefully declined.
