Obituary of Marie Hogg
HOGG: Marie Elizabeth (nee Walker) –
A resident of Ridgetown, and formerly the family farm at R.R. # 3 Thamesville, Marie Hogg passed away at the Village on the Ridge on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the age of 102.
Born in Brandon, Manitoba, Marie was the daughter of the late Herbert and Alberta (Weir) Walker.
Beloved wife of 48 years to the late Orval Hogg (1987).
Cherished mother of Les Hogg (Shirley) of R.R. # 3 Thamesville and Lois McAllister (Ken) of Ridgetown.
Proud grandmother of Mark (Nikki), David (Barb) and Paul (Mary) Hogg, Jodie (Jason) Reaume, Edward (Patricia), Scott (Sri) and Tim (Barb) McAllister.
Great-grandmother of Nolan, Joshua, Noah, Rylan, Teanna, Daley, Whitson, Orin, Jillian and Brady Hogg, Jarren and Delaney Reaume, Anna, Ian, Adam, Masie, Mackenzie, Chloe and Olivia McAllister.
Predeceased by her siblings Mildred Hogg, Bob Walker, Alvin Walker and Stella Landon.
Marie was a member of the Erie Street United Church and Turin United Church. In the 1930’s, Marie was a member of one of the first women’s softball travel teams. She enjoyed curling, bicycling, swimming, playing cards and quilting with her red cross group. Every winter, Marie and Orval travelled to Lake Wales, Florida where they enjoyed lawn bowling and playing shuffleboard with their friends.
A Celebration of Marie’s life will be held at Turin United Church, 14188 Turin Line, Thamesville at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 23, 2017 with Rev. Wanda Burse officiating. Cremation has taken place with a private family interment to be held at Gosnell Cemetery at a later date. Special thanks to the staff at the Village on the Ridge for their loving care over the past years.
