It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret «Meg» Makin on September 20, 2017 in Hillcrest, AB. She graced this world with 82 years of life.
Meg was born in Hillcrest, AB on September 28, 1934 to loving parents John and Eiley Norton, and she grew into a lovely young woman with a heart of gold, who treasured her family.
When she wasn’t busy taking care of her home and family, Margaret enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren and taking a walk with her, canine companion, Mitzu. Margaret was the heart of her family and an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed. She chose this poem:
As I Sit In Heaven
As I sit in Heaven and watch you everyday,
I try to let you know with signs I never went away.
I hear you when you’re laughing and watch you as you sleep,
I even place my arms around you to calm you as you weep.
I see you wish the days away begging to have me home,
So I try to send you signs, so you know you are not alone.
Don’t feel guilty that you have life that was denied to me,
Heaven is truly beautiful just you wait and see.
So live your life, laugh again, enjoy yourself, be free,
Then I know with every breath you take you’ll be taking one for me.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her children, Leora Makin of Blairmore, AB, Linda Easton of Hillcrest, AB, Leanne McBurney of Cranbrook, BC, and Dea Makin of Medicine Hat, AB; her grandchildren, Jason (Janice) Easton, Kristi (Pete) Easton and David Makin; her great grandchildren, Hailey, Eva, Annabelle, Logan and Clara; her companion, Mitzu the Bichon; her extended family, numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Makin; her parents, John and Eiley Norton; her brother, Peter Norton; and her sister, Joan Kelly.
There will be no funeral service. Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
