It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Anne Plaza at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre, Blairmore, AB on August 18, 2017. She was 61 years of age.
Margaret was born in Coleman, AB on May 9, 1956 to loving parents, Frank and Mary Ruzek, and she grew into a vibrant young lady who loved life. On August 4, 2007, Margaret married her soul mate, Rick Plaza. Together, they created a loving home and countless happy memories.
In her free time, Margaret enjoyed listening to country music, doing word searches, painting and coloring, and she never missed an episode of “The Young and the Restless”! She also loved travelling and going on cruises. One of her favorite trips was to Mexico with Rick, and another memorable one was to Nashville where she met and had her photo taken with Billy Ray Cyrus. Margaret participated in the Special Olympics on more than one occasion, in both five-pin bowling and track and field, in which she won numerous medals and trophies. She was well known for having a wonderful sense of humour and for playing good-natured tricks on her friends and family. (Just ask Donna!) Margaret’s contagious smile and joyful spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her devoted husband, Rick Plaza of Blairmore, AB; her brother, Frank Ruzek of Red Deer, AB; her sister-in-law, Cheryl (Chris) Self of Coleman, AB; her brothers in–law, Dennis (Diana) Plaza of Burmis, AB, Raymond (Carol) Plaza of Michigan and David (Cheri) Plaza of Oklahoma; her very special friends, Donna (Bill) VanBuskirk of Coleman, AB and Penny (Gerry) Nichols of Burmis, AB; many nieces and nephews, especially Kayla, Kyle and great niece, Addalynn; as well as the countless friends she made throughout her life.
She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Mary Ruzek.
The Memorial Service celebrating Margaret’s life will take place at Fantin’s Funeral Chapel (13461, 20 Ave., Blairmore, AB) on Thursday August 31, 2017 at 2:00pm. Memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the Canadian Cancer Society (Box 359 Bellevue, AB T0K 0C0). Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
