METKE: Julia (nee Palaschak) age 92 years of Swift Current, SK passed away on September 5, 2017 at the Cypress Regional Hospital. At Julia’s request no formal service will be held. Julia is survived by her children Donald (Marnie) Metke, Maurice (Linda) Metke and Elaine (Ken) Crawford; six grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her first husband Arthur Metke in 1987 of Cadillac, SK and her second husband Roy Warner in 1994 of Swift Current, SK. Julia was an active member in the Swift Current Seniors Club. Her hobbies included playing cards, golfing, quilting, curling, travelling, square dancing, and attending the provincial seniors games competing in floor shuffle and cards. Julia will be missed dearly by all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as she always made time to «get into trouble» with them. She always listened to them as they practiced their many musical instruments, and filled their bellies with the best perogies and cabbage rolls. Julia was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was her life. Julia immigrated to Kingsmeade, SK south of Cadillac, from Czechoslovakia in 1936 at the age of 11. Julia attended school at Kingsmeade and Beaver Valley. Julia married Arthur Metke on November 16, 1945. Warren’s Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
