Catherine Judith Mason
Catherine Judith Mason, age 69, formerly of Lower
Sackville,N.S., passed away peacefully at Glen Haven Manor after a
brief struggle with cancer.
Born in New Glasgow to parents Beatrice(Falconer) and
the late Norbert Mason.
Judy
graduated with her Bachelor Of Education from Mount St Vincent
University having taught elementary school in the greater Halifax
area.
She
enjoyed music, painting, photography, traveling and singing with her
sisters. She also tutored for a short time. In her youth, Judy
participated in the New Glasgow Kiwanis Music festivals in singing
and piano
classes.
Although
being a very private person, she loved to laugh heartily, loved her
pets and became interested in social media to keep in touch
with many distant friends and family. Thank you to «We
Care» and the staff at Glen
Haven.
She was a
hero to her sister Estelle, to whom she donated one of her
kidneys in 1979. This operation brought them even closer
together, as they shared the same birthday one year
apart.
Judy is
survived by her mother Beatrice (Glen Haven Manor), sisters Phyllis
(Bob Cullen),Big Island, Clare (Mike) Grieves, Lower Sackville, Doris
Mason, New Glasgow, brothers Jerry (Mary) Mason, Halifax, Ralph (Anne
Marie) Mason, Ottawa and many nieces, nephews and their
children.
She was predeceased by her father Norbert, sister
Estelle, brothers Norbert Allan, Gordon and
Cyril.
The family will receive guests on Thurs.,Dec.28th from 7-9 p.m. in the
H W.Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Memorial mass will be held at
2p.m. Dec.29th,2017 at Our Lady Of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with
Father Barrett Clare- Johnson presiding. Burial will be in the parish
cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the
Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your
choice.
