He passed away surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, November 22nd, 2017 at the Lady Minto Hospital in Cochrane at the age of 77. Leaving behind his wife Marie Fanning, children Brian Fanning, Caroline Fanning (Daniel Beaudet) and Walter (Anne-Marie) Fanning, step-children Debbie (Paul) Quin, Dany (Lindsey) Capon, Brian Capon and Sandra (Danny) Burke, grandchildren Kayla, Austin, Mathieu, Alexandre, Andrew, Kyle, Travis, Kayla, Paige, Logan, Shawn, Brittany and Skylar, 3 great-grandchildren, siblings James (Grace) Fanning, Basil Fanning, Robert (Carol) Fanning, Evelyn Fanning and Helen Fanning. John also leaves many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father Henry Fanning and his mother Caroline Fanning (nee Landry).
