On December 24th, 2017 as the beautiful red sunrise started the day, John Shannon passed away with his wife Bette at his side. John was a Bay of Fundy retiree of 43 years. His retirement years were spent fishing at Balls Lake, hunting and enjoying his family which consisted of 9 children, 23 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He lived his 83 years enjoying each day as it came.
John is survived by his 9 children; Debra (Fuller), Wendy (Forbes), Sharon (Schima), Wanda (Breen), Terry, Jamie, Jenny (Trites), Kelly (Lamanque) and Traci-Shannon (Prescott).
John was predeceased by his beloved granddaughter Maggie, grandson Rory, sister Carol, brother Bob, parents Ruth and John and biological mother Olive Starrett.
Thank you to the staff of 5CS at the Saint John Regional Hospital for all of their care, especially the kindness and care shown by Rick that was given to our Dad which was beyond his job.
John will be resting at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) on Friday, December 29th between the hours of 3-5 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, December 30th from the former St. Joachim’s Catholic Church (603 Loch Lomond Road) at 9:30 AM, reception to follow the interment. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
