John Cameron «Jack» Murray
1921-2017
John Murray, fondly known as
«Jack», passed away peacefully on February 2nd,
2017 at the South Campus Hospital in Calgary, Alberta at the age of
95.
Jack was born in Moncton,
New Brunswick on August 18th, 1921, and was the only child to John
Ross Murray and Laura Bernice Murray (Cameron). He grew up in
Hillsborough, New Brunswick. After graduating from the
University of New Brunswick with a degree in Electrical Engineering,
Jack pursued a life long career with Northern Electric (Bell
Northern / ultimately known as Nortel). Upon spending a great deal of
his life in Montreal, Quebec, and Ottawa, Ontario, he then returned to
the homestead to enjoy his retirement years. His career awarded him a
Lifetime membership in the the «Telephone Pioneers of
America» organization. Jack will be remembered as a gentle and
lovable man whose wry sense of humor and sweet smile will never be
forgotten. His good nature and the kindness of his heart won
the affection of everyone who knew him. He was loved by all and will
live on in our hearts
forever.
Jack was predeceased by his
beloved wife Jessie Winifred Murray (Glover) . He will be dearly
missed by his son David R F Murray (Carol) of Rosemere,
Quebec, and daughter Marion R Powell (Rick) of Calgary, Alberta. He
will also be deeply missed by his precious grandchildren Shelleigh,
Kelly, Kimberley, Deron and Nicole; great grandchildren Caleb, Teagan
and Liam.
A celebration of life and memorial
service will be held in Hillsborough, New Brunswick with Rev. Carol
Mullin Officiating, in early May, with the date and times to be
announced. Interment will be held in Grey’s Island Cemetery,
Hillsborough.
For those who wish, donations to the charity of the donor’s choice
would be greatly appreciated by the family.
