Obituary for Jody Lynn Pfeifer
Jody Pfeifer passed away moments after midnight on Saturday October 21, 2017 at the age of 56 years, surrounded with support and love from some of her most precious people and pawed ones.
“Just living is not enough, one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower”
Jody was so much, to so many people in her 56 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Ryan Pfeifer; her partner Karl Geist; as well as countless members of her family, her friends, colleagues, and acquaintances alike.
Jody happily worked hard her entire life, and took a lot of pride and joy in the careers she pursued, and the projects that she took on. She also enthusiastically embraced life to the fullest.
She was strong willed, determined, kind, and generous – always giving of herself, and always there for others. She had an incredible wit and sense of humour about her that charmed everyone she met. She lit up a room with her brilliant smile, and boisterous laughter. She loved people, animals, and nature. You could often find her collecting rocks and feathers by the river, hiking Nose Hill, spending time with friends, spoiling her precious pets, and making wine!
In August of 2016, Jody was diagnosed with ALS. She took the news with courage and grace. She was an absolute ray of sunshine and positive energy throughout her journey, and had a tremendous will to make the rest of her life a victory – Jody was deeply honoured to be chosen as the Betty’s Run for ALS ambassador for 2017.
Jody has inspired us in so many ways, we are all better to have known her, and so fortunate to have been loved by her. May the joy she created in her lifetime be carried on forever by her loved ones, and those who were touched by her indomitable spirit.
At Jody’s request there will be no funeral; cremation has taken place. Honour her by being kind, generous, loving, and helpful wherever you can, and as she encouraged “Eat Dessert First!”
