Joan Marie Jardim (Doyle)
JARDIM, Joan Marie (Doyle) – It is will deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother. She died peacefully at her daughter Ruth’s home on December 17, 2017, surrounded by loved ones. Delivered by her Aunt Hurley in a thunder and lightning storm on Macara Street in 1931. She graduated from Mount Saint Vincent Girls Academy in 1948. She was an accomplished athlete winning the Halifax high school basketball championships that year. She entered the Convent but after chaperoning a local CYO dance at St. Joseph’s Parish she met the love of her life who she married in 1955. Six beautiful daughters (whew!) followed over the next 10 years who MADE HER CRAZY THE REST OF HER LIFE. She re-entered the workforce as a means of escape but we found her – she could run but she wasn’t a very good hider. She was a loyal CWL member at St. Michael’s church for many years. She was predeceased by her parents John Edward Doyle, Mary Irene Doyle (Boleman), brothers Jack, Ted and sister Katherine. She is survived by her brother Donald J. Doyle, daughters, Ruth (Robert) Todd, Marie Therese (Arthur) Durant, Patricia Jardim, Colleen (Peter) Dartanna, Carol (Bill) Webber and Joanne (Kevin) Fisk. She will be dearly missed by her 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. They will miss her humor and laid-back attitude. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Hugh Matheson, Northwood Home Care and VON. We are also very grateful to all those who kept our mother in their thoughts and prayers especially the faith community at Caritas, St. Ignatius and Parkstone where she attended Mass regularly. The Funeral Mass and reception will take place Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Ignatius Parish at 1288 Bedford Highway, Bedford. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sisters of Charity – PERU MISSION, Sisters of Charity Centre, 215 Seton Road, Halifax, NS B3M 0C9.
